Consultation on the Fundamental Review of Data Returns

This consultation builds on the Government’s commitment in the NHS White Paper Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS to undertake a fundamental review of data returns. The consultation proposes that 25 per cent of returns are discontinued.

NHS chief executives and their colleagues who wish to respond should note the closing date is 22 November 2011. For further information, contact fundamentaldatareview@dh.gsi.gov.uk

1. The NHS Leadership Academy – a call for your input
(Gateway reference number: 16573)

The wider leadership community is asked to inform current thinking around the new Leadership Academy. Four key questions are being posed, and the deadline for responses is 5 September. Feedback will be provided to the Reference Network that is helping to shape arrangements.

Action: NHS chief executives who wish to take part in this opportunity can email their responses to NHSLeadership@dh.gsi.gov.uk by 5 September.

Publications

2. National Mobile Health Worker Project
(Gateway reference number: 16382)

This project set out to capture quantifiable evidence to support the case for investment in the use of mobile devices in clinical care. The national clinical lead for Mobile Solutions led a team of technical and clinical specialists and selected 11 pilot sites examining the technical and business change aspects of mobile working deployment.

Action: NHS chief executives will wish to review the report and consider the evidence to support their organisations with mobile working deployments.

3. Expert on Call: Energise for Excellence
(Gateway reference number: 16570)

In the next Expert on Call session, Michelle Mello, National Lead for Energise for Excellence (E4E), will talk about the E4E Call to Action. E4E brings together a range of tools, approaches and measures under one umbrella to help nurses and midwives make changes and ensure patients receive the best possible care.
